The stock price of Twitter Inc (TWTR) has risen by over 2.22% today till the late morning trading session. The stock price of Twitter has risen by over 4.5% since the open yesterday. The stock closed at $17.58 on Thursday.
The San Francisco based company is an online social networking service that enables users to send and read short 140-character messages called “tweets”. Registered users can read and post tweets, but those who are unregistered can only read them. Users access Twitter through the website interface, SMS or mobile device app. Twitter Inc. and has more than 25 offices around the world.
The top trend on Twitter on today morning relates to an alleged email released by WikiLeaks. The alleged email to Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta mentions a spirit cooking dinner. WikiLeaks tweeted that this involves “blood, sperm and breastmilk.” Spirit cooking refers to performance artist Marina Abramovic’s “cookbook” of recipes to cook up thoughts – not meals. However, some on Twitter are taking it to the extreme and accusing the former secretary of state of devil worship. “This is not the first or last time that WikiLeaks has tweeted propaganda while doing Putin’s bidding,” a Clinton campaign representative wrote in an email. This information cannot be verified because in the alleged email, and it is be entirely possible that someone altered the email before it was publicly released.
Eskom chief executive Brian Molefe was trending on Twitter yesterday – not only because he broke down during a press conference that was meant to be on Eskom’s financial results – but because of his claim that he wasn’t visiting the Guptas, but a nearby shebeen. Former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s State of Capture report, which was released on Wednesday, contains cellphone tracking evidence that Molefe was at or near the Guptas’ Saxonwold, Johannesburg, compound 19 times between August 5 and November 17 2015. Molefe broke down in tears as he hit back at these details during an Eskom results presentation.“There’s a shebeen there, two streets away from the Guptas. I will not admit or deny that I’ve gone to the shebeen. But there is a shebeen there.” However, chairperson of the Saxonwold and Parkwood Residents Association Tessa Turvey told sources that there was no shebeen in the small market area near the Johannesburg zoo.
According to breaking news from the country, Turkey has blocked its nationals to access popular social media services and news sites, including Twitter. According to sources, at around 1:30 am local time, access to the aforementioned sites and more was blocked by the country’s internet service providers (ISP). Blockage of internet services is not a rare occurrence by any means in Turkey, as political pressure and unrest is often seen to be the root cause.
